FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint分享S&P Global Market Intelligence ($):Data reported to federal officials suggests Cloud Peak Energy Inc. could post a weak second quarter in the face of ongoing domestic coal pricing pressures.Cloud Peak’s three coal mines reported 11.6 million tons of coal production in the second quarter, down 3.7% from 12.1 million tons in the prior quarter and falling 17.8% from the 14.1 million tons of coal produced in the second quarter of 2017, according to data reported to the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration. It was the lowest production quarter for the company since its IPO in 2009, Seaport Global Securities LLC analyst Mark Levin wrote in a July 16 note.“While [the second quarter] is typically a weak quarter for all [Powder River Basin] producers, we think [Cloud Peak’s] production, even by those standards, is a disappointment,” Levin wrote. “We suspect low natural gas prices, coal plant retirements, and increased use of renewables continue to weigh on demand.”Levin added that while export markets are a bright spot, that does not offset underlying concerns about domestic demand for Powder River Basin coal. He reiterated a neutral rating on the company.MSHA data shows quarter-over-quarter production increased by more than a half a million tons at Cloud Peak’s Spring Creek mine, which is where the company generally sources the coal it sells into export markets. However, the company’s domestic utility-focused Antelope and Cordero Rojo mines both significantly lowered coal production compared to the same quarter a year ago.More ($): Coal production from Cloud Peak Energy mines down sharply in recent quarter Cloud Peak coal production down sharply in second quarter

So, for the sake of argument, let us join Sunny and go into the Badlands, this post-apocalyptic world with vast meadows of roses. Early on, after effortlessly wiping out about a dozen dudes without breaking a sweat, Sunny rescues M.K. (Aramis Knight), a teenager he finds trapped in a chest. It turns out that M.K. can unlock a mysterious power of ass-kicking whenever he bleeds, making you ponder the consequences if he ever accidentally nicks himself. And so, on top of motorcycle-riding assassins armed with Japanese Samurai swords, we also have magical teenagers. The Badlands are also occupied by the sickly Baron Quinn (Marton Csokas, The Lord of the Rings), his eighth wife-to-be (Sarah Bolger), his jealous wife (Orla Brady), Sunny’s pregnant lover (Madelein Mantock), and primitive boys training to become cold, heartless Clippers–and follow in Sunny’s footsteps. Figuring out their names was less concerning than trying to understand why all this cliché drama littered the background of a show loosely based on “Journey to the West,” a 16th century Chinese novel. It all was so odd yet so familiar…Apparently, there was something about Sunny’s martial arts skills that piqued the interest of the Baron–who decided to put it to “good” use–and will supposedly keep us enthralled in the journey ahead. But after Sunny brings M.K. back with him inside the high-walled doors of The Fort, where Baron Quinn runs his adolescent training camp, the drama within turns silly and mundane, and the more obvious it becomes that Into the Badlands is nothing more than an excuse to watch Daniel Wu flex his well-oiled muscles. And then it hit me. After tons of dull dialogue, the closing shots flashed on-screen with the song, “Lead Me Home,” by Jamie N Commons. The tune turned a knob in my brain, opened a door, and flooded out memories dating back to February 2013.“Lead Me Home” also concluded an episode of The Walking Dead (“Clear”, season three), when the protagonist Rick Grimes parted ways with an unhinged underling, Morgan Jones, for the second time in the series. This is another post-apocalyptic world. Humans coping with everyday drama are simply trying to live their lives in an environment that won’t let them. It’s the same formula with a new skin. Even AMC’s promotional commercials of Sunny’s martial arts abilities had shot-by-shot similarities to Walking Dead’s Michonne, Daryl and Morgan’s katana slicing, kicking, and stick wielding against the oncoming zombies. The cable network labeled its Sunday double-bill, “Twice The Fight.”Was AMC trying to make another Walking Dead out of Into the Badlands? Sure, there were no zombies lumbering through the Badlands’ rose meadows, and the characters were a lot more settled in, but paralleling the two shows explained all the out-of-place drama. Each commercial break started with these words, “Coming up on Into the Badlands,” leaving viewers hanging with a suspenseful action scene, as though AMC knew the risk that many (myself included) might change the channel if their curiosity weren’t aroused. Almost 20 million viewers tuned in for The Walking Dead’s season six premiere in October, so it’s no surprise that AMC hopes to draw those numbers with the five remaining episodes of its new series before the show enters the real badlands of low ratings. And that might prove the match for a prized martial arts champion like Sunny no matter how many necks he snaps.(Photo credit: AMC) Sign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York Following Sunday night’s zombie apocalypse as depicted by the latest episode of The Walking Dead, AMC presented badass martial arts mayhem with its season premiere of Into the Badlands.A lot of strange words with no context were tossed around–Clippers, barons, and the Colts–but swift sidestepping, bone snapping, and karate whooshing distracted the brain and glued the eyes to the screen. At least for a little while.Wearing “cool guy” sunglasses and riding a motorcycle in a blood-red trench coat, Sunny (Daniel Wu) hits the trail to brighten nomadic and hostile gangs’ days by snapping their wrists and impaling them with rusted skewers or wielding his ever shiny katana.Evidently, once upon a time, Sunny was one of the aforementioned Clippers, assassins who “just show up, kill people, and leave.” But beneath all his ink, which records each of his many kills (404 and counting), Sunny is supposedly just a nice guy who made a bad career move. Now he’s about to rewrite his job description, as we shall soon see.

Photo credit: roc-taiwan.orgTAIPEI, Taiwan (CNA) — The British Virgin Islands (BVI) will be the 125th country or region to grant visa-free entry or landing visas to Taiwan passport holders, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Taipei said on Wednesday. The details and when the privilege will take effect, however, will be announced after negotiations with the BVI government, the MOFA said in a press statement. The statement noted that the visa-waiver program will follow the one adopted by the British government in March 2009. The BVI is the sixth British overseas territory — after Bermuda, Gibraltar, Turks and Caicos, St Helena, and Falkland Islands — to establish such an agreement with Taiwan, it said. The visa-free entry scheme should boost bilateral ties, increase cultural exchanges and encourage tourism, it added. Although the BVI consists of a small population of 25,000, its tourism and financial service industries have made it one of the most thriving economic areas in the Caribbean, according to the MOFA. It never fails — every season, things get weird in the fantasy playoffs. 2018’s opening round didn’t disappoint, with a load of vultured touchdowns, wacky plays, and, of course, injuries. The former shouldn’t influence your roster moves too much this week (outside of late-week free agent adds), but the latter has a big effect on the top Week 15 fantasy waiver wire pickups. Both LeSean McCoy and Isaiah Crowell exited the Jets-Bills game early, paving the way for handcuffs Chris Ivory and Elijah McGuire to provide fantasy football owners with start ’em, sit ’em decisions in the semifinals they never expected to have to make. (Much like fantasy owners never expected to care about Justin Jackson, who’s only relevant because of a late-game injury to Austin Ekeler…who only matters because of a Melvin Gordon injury.)There aren’t a ton of “game-changers” like last week on our full free agent list, but there are some interesting TE and D/ST streamers, as well as a few bench RB and WR options who could come in handy if you find yourself in a late-week bind like Odell Beckham Jr. owners were in this week. The potential defense pickups are especially important, as this isn’t a particularly strong week at the position. Those streamers can be found at the end of this list. If you’re worried about weather or just someone with way too much time on your hands, you can check out our Week 15 kicker rankings. WEEK 15 DFS CASH LINEUPS: Yahoo | FanDuel | DraftKingsVernon Davis, TE, Redskins. Jordan Reed suffered a foot injury against the Giants, and it’s possible he will miss time. Davis will be the new top TE in Washington, and he had four catches for 31 yards against the Giants. He should have a chance to produce against a mediocre Jaguars defense that has struggled against TEs in the recent weeks. The only concern is whether Josh Johnson will be able to continue playing at a solid level, as he did in relief of Mark Sanchez. But either way, Davis should still soak up some targets. For more waiver /free agent options, including QB, WR, TE, and D/ST streamers, check out our full Week 15 list. MORE: Full Week 15 waiver wire list | RB handcuff chartAt this point in the season, there’s little point in saving your waiver claims. Sure, something big might happen next week, but if you’re smart and planning ahead, you should be prepared either way (i.e. have your starting RBs handcuffed). Whether you actually need McGuire or Ivory (or possibly Jackson, who’s available in 45 percent of Yahoo leagues) or you just want to keep them off someone else’s team, you might as well grab them and add to your depth. Week 15 Rankings:Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | KickerTop fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 15Unless otherwise noted, only players owned in fewer than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues considered.Chris Ivory, RB, Bills. Ivory took over in Week 14 after LeSean McCoy exited early due to a hamstring injury. The veteran backup managed 42 yards on 12 carries, ceding some running work to WR Isaiah McKenzie (four carries, 22 yards, TD) and Marcus Murphy (4-10). If McCoy is out next week — a likely scenario — Ivory would handle the bulk of the carries against a decent-but-vulnerable Lions run defense. He’s performed well as a fill-in this year, totaling 107 yards on 19 touches in Week 11 and 126 yards on 23 touches in Week 3. A Week 16 matchup against New England isn’t as appealing, but Ivory would be in play as a potential RB2/high-end FLEX in the fantasy semifinals.WEEK 15 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight endElijah McGuire, RB, Jets. Isaiah Crowell was “questionable” leading up to Week 14 because of an ailing toe, and he didn’t get more than two carries in Sunday’s game against the Bills before aggravating the injury. McGuire took over as New York’s primary back, rushing 17 times for 60 yards and a score while adding another 23 yards on three receptions. It seems unlikely Crowell will be ready for next Saturday’s game against the Texans, putting McGuire in prime position to pay off as a low-end RB2/high-end FLEX, especially in PPR leagues. Trenton Cannon, who vultured a four-yard score on one of his five carries last week, will also be involved, but McGuire noticeably dominated touches and targets against the Bills. The Jets have another decent matchup in Week 16 (vs. GB), so McGuire could have multi-week value.MORE WEEK 15: Full waiver list Damien Williams, RB, Chiefs. Don’t be confused — Spencer Ware is still the lead back for the Chiefs. He had 20 touches and 129 total yards in Week 14 against the Ravens, but it was Williams who scored two TDs — one on the ground, one through the air. For the game, Williams had eight carries for 14 yards and 24 yards on five receptions (six targets). You obviously can’t count on the scores every week, but it’s clear Williams is a legitimate part of the Chiefs offense. He could produce in PPR leagues next Thursday against the Chargers and in Week 16 against Seattle, but either way, he’s a must-have handcuff.DaeSean Hamilton, WR, Broncos. Hamilton, a rookie out of Penn State, took advantage of Emmanuel Sanders’ injury in Week 14 after struggling to stay healthy early in the season. He tied for the team-lead with nine targets and converted them into seven catches for 47 yards and a TD. Hamilton should continue to see a volume of opportunities and has inside-outside versatility. With two great matchups on tap with the Browns and Raiders in the last two weeks of the season, Hamilton is worth a flier as a potential FLEX, though it’s tough to say if there’s much difference between him and fellow rookie Tim Patrick (6-64, eight targets).
“Faced with the unfortunate, illegal and outrageous allegations, we completely repudiate the unfair accusations and, above all, the exposure in the press of an extremely negative situation.“All evidence of attempted extortion and non-rape shall be submitted to the police in a timely manner.”Neymar is currently in Brazil getting ready for the Copa America finals in June and July with the national team. Brazilian outlet UOL was the first to report the rape accusations and claim the report to police is being kept confidential.Neymar’s father suggested on Saturday night that the WhatsApp messages his son exchanged with the woman, whom was flown into Paris on May 15, would be published in an attempt to prove his innocence to the public.”I know that my son can be accused of many things, but I know the boy that he is, the man that he is, the son of a father and a mother,” Neymar Sr. said. “We will push for justice to be served as quickly as possible.” Reports in Brazil claim Neymar paid for her travel and met her at Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe. The 27-year-old says he met her at the hotel but contests the serious claims from the unnamed woman, who is protected by anonymity.”I’m being charged of rape,” Neymar said in an Instagram video published on Sunday morning that was viewed more than 10 million times before he deleted it. “It’s a heavy word, it’s a very strong thing, but it’s what’s happening right now.“I was taken by surprise. It was very bad, very sad to hear that. You know my character, you know what I mean, you know I would never do something like that.“But I’ve been exposed to it and I’m here to make a face of it, because I know that any news with my name involves a lot of things, it makes a very loud noise, and everybody keeps wanting my statement, and what happened was totally the opposite of what they say.“From now on I will expose everything, I will expose all the conversation I had with the girl, all our moments, which are intimate, but it is necessary to be open, it is necessary to expose to prove that nothing really happened at all.”Neymar shared conversations that claim the two began speaking in March and continue May 15. His messages allege that she invites the former Barcelona star back to the hotel on May 16.The woman reportedly returned to Sao Paulo on May 17 before taking her case to a police station that specialises in women’s defence on May 31. “What happened that day was a relationship between a man and a woman, within four walls,” the PSG player claimed. “Something happens with every couple, and the next day nothing happened.”We kept chatting, she asked me for a souvenir for her son, and I was going to take it, and well… now I am surprised by these claims.“It’s very bad, very sad. This not only hurts me, but like my whole family, because not only denigrating my image is bad, but what I am, who I am, the nature I have, the character I have.”An official statement released by Neymar’s PR team alleges the player was the victim of an extortion attempt before the allegations came to light on Saturday night.“Although he was surprised by the news, the facts were already known by the player and his staff, considering that a few days ago he was a victim of attempted extortion, practiced by a lawyer from the city of Sao Paulo, who, according to his version, represented the interests of the woman,” the statement said.“The athlete’s lawyers were immediately notified and have since taken all relevant steps. Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has vehemently denied a rape allegation being levelled at him to Sao Paulo police, following claims from a Brazilian woman he met in Paris. Police in Brazil confirmed to Goal on Saturday that there is a complaint against Neymar, but would not discuss details of the case, which was filed on May 31.

National fast food chain Chick-fil-A is setting things straight, after company officials sent a promotional email last week welcoming customers to their stores on National Sandwich Day.Sounds fine, right? Well, not in this case. The problem is that the so-called “national holiday” falls on November 3, which of course is on a Sunday this year. The chain is closed on Sundays. That realization led the company to send a follow-up email with the subject line, “Well … this is awkward.”The follow-up message states, “We recently sent an email that included a message about National Sandwich Day, which naturally we were very excited about. We didn’t realize it falls on Sunday when we are closed. We apologize for the confusion and hope to see you soon (Monday-Saturday).”On a related note, competitor Popeyes used the occasion to announce that its popular chicken sandwich, which sold out weeks earlier than expected last summer, would make its return on Sunday.Popeyes officials took a jab at Chick-fil-A in a recent social media video, which says that Popeyes is “always open seven days a week.”

Florida Highway Patrol troopers and other law enforcement agencies will be officially issuing tickets for texting while driving starting Wednesday, Jan. 1.A new law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis that will make texting while driving a primary offense instead of a secondary offense will be in full effect come 2020.The texting and driving law went into effect in July in phases. During the first phase, officers would only issue warnings. Then, in October, a ban went into effect on holding a phone while driving through a school or work zone.Well now, officers will issue tickets starting with a $30 fine plus court costs. If a second violation occurs within five years, the fine doubles to $60 and court costs increase to over $150. Violators will also have points added to their license. Thanks to the new law, texting while driving is now a primary offense, allowing officers to pull drivers over for texting.

A Kentucky man has been arrested after he reportedly killed and skinned four dogs to make what he called a “doggy coat.”38-year-old Jonathan D. Watkins was arrested on December 23rd after one of his neighbor’s contacted police about the incident. The neighbor told authorities that Watkins showed up to their home around 1:20 pm covered in blood and asking for a cigarette. When the neighbor inquired why Watkins was covered in blood, Watkins replied “I’ve been skinning dogs.”The neighbor says he didn’t initially believe Watkins, however, when the neighbor went walking by Watkins home later that afternoon, they saw what they believed to be four animal skins and two dog carcasses on his porch. That’s when the neighbor called police.Authorities say two residents contacted them earlier about their missing dogs, however, authorities had not been able to locate them. When a trooper made contact with Watkins about the missing dogs and the carcasses on his porch, Watkins told the trooper: “I’m making myself a Doggy Coat. ” He then went on to say that he didn’t see anything wrong with making the coat and that he killed the animals by “stabbing them in the heart” before he skinned them and abandoned their carcasses over a nearby hill.Watkins is now facing animal cruelty charges in addition to charges for tampering with physical evidence.
