The initial appointment is for oneyear, and is renewable for a second year based on performance. Thevisitor course load is five courses per academic year. The coursestaught will contribute to both the Psychology Department as well asthe interdisciplinary Neuroscience & Behavior program.Responsibilities include teaching survey courses in the candidate’sarea of expertise, statistics, and a small seminar for first-yearstudents as well as contributing to a team-taught core course inBehavioral Neurobiology. In addition, service to the department andprogram will include advising undergraduate majors. The PsychologyDepartment currently has 18 full-time faculty members in the areasof neuroscience, psychopathology, cognitive, developmental,cultural, and social psychology. Wesleyan faculty have a strongcommitment to both scholarship and undergraduate teaching. Theappointment will begin September 1, 2021.Minimum QualificationsCandidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, orrelated field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as anAssistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as anInstructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at thetime of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D.in Psychology,Neuroscience, or related field within one year of hire.Special Instructions To ApplicantsA complete application includes: curriculum vitae, researchstatement, teaching statement, teaching evaluations if available,and no more than two reprints.
